The firm's principals developed their skills in high-stakes, news-making complex litigation at the trial and appellate levels in both state and federal courts. Over the past decade, they have been responsible for prosecuting cases that have produced extraordinary results for their clients, as well as the public at large. One case exposed massive corporate fraud that a major automaker perpetrated on millions of its customers, and resulted in the first -- and only -- court-ordered recall in a private civil action. It settled on a nationwide basis shortly after the issuance of the recall order. More recently, the firm served as co-lead counsel with the Center for Science in the Public Interest in a false-advertising case that resulted in a record-setting cash settlement of more than $23 million, which ABC’s Good Morning America characterized as “pretty amazing.”
Fazio | Micheletti LLP has taken the lead in a number of other cases that produced notable results as well, such as the following:
- Full reimbursement to all class members in class action brought by purchasers of internet domain names in United States and other locations throughout the world.
- Full restitution for the victims of a fraudulent investment scheme.
- Full reimbursement and nearly double the warranty on defective components in sport utility vehicles owned by residents of the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
- Full reimbursement of interest payments to mortgagees who paid into tax and insurance impound fund under mortgage loan agreement with regional bank.
- Full reimbursement of expenditures relating to defective motor vehicle component, which cost up to $1200 to replace, and double the length of original warranty.
- Caused a federal regulatory agency to initiate investigation and find that automaker withheld information from previous investigation, and to change the way it conducts investigations into safety-related defects.
- Donated entire fee award ($250,000) to non-profit public-interest organizations.
