Fazio | Micheletti LLP specializes in representing plaintiffs in class actions involving a variety of substantive issues. We began the practice of law representing some of the largest corporations in the world as defendants in cases involving claims of product liability, mass torts, discrimination and other civil rights violations, and breaches of state and federal securities laws. For the past 15 years, however, we have dedicated our practice to representing individuals, public-interest groups, and businesses as plaintiffs at the trial and appellate levels in both state and federal courts. More often than not, those cases involve high stakes and frequently make news — in this country and in other parts of the world.

Since 1995, we have represented the victims of corporate misconduct of nearly every stripe — ranging from fraud, false advertising, antitrust, and unfair and deceptive business practices to various forms of malfeasance pertaining to corporate governance, including breaches of fiduciary duty and contract. Usually, the conduct at issue in the cases we handle affects not only the client who files the complaint, but thousands — and sometimes millions — of others who have suffered from the same conduct.

We serve as lead or co-lead counsel in the cases we prosecute, which are statewide, nationwide, and sometimes even worldwide in scope. In addition to developing litigation strategies and addressing cutting-edge legal issues in trial and appellate courts across the country, we have worked with and participated in proceedings before state and federal regulatory agencies, participated in hearings before the California Senate and the United States Congress, and assisted with investigations by federal Inspectors General.

We have also consulted with nationally-recognized consumer-advocacy organizations and experts who are leaders in their fields of endeavor. And because the magnitude of potential liability in the cases we prosecute often involves millions (and sometimes billions) of dollars, the defendants are usually represented by the largest, most experienced law firms in the United States.

The results we have achieved speak for themselves. Recently, Fazio | Micheletti LLP served as co-lead counsel with the Center for Science in the Public Interest in a false-advertising case that resulted in a record-setting cash settlement of more than $23 million, which ABC’s Good Morning America characterized as “pretty amazing” because we made sure class members did not have to jump through unnecessary hoops to benefit from the settlement. In other cases, we have succeeded where regulatory agencies have failed to detect massive fraud perpetrated by major corporations on millions of their customers, by vigorously litigated those issues in all aspects of judicial proceedings, including a nine-month trial that resulted in the first — and only — court-ordered recall in a private civil action in U.S. history.
